A Google Business Profile (GBP) is the listing Google uses to show a healthcare practice on Maps, the local pack, and the knowledge panel. For a brick-and-mortar or hybrid clinic, a citeable GBP is one that matches the real name, address, phone, hours, category, and services patients will find at the door and on the website. Google’s own Help and Search Central docs treat that consistency as the foundation of local visibility. Below: what to publish, what to keep aligned, and how multi-location practices should treat one profile per location. Catalyze Care SEO is published at $799/month. Monthly reporting of verified activity.
In one sentenceA citeable GBP tells the same true story as the clinic door, the website, and the directories, one staffed location per profile.
Who this Business Profile pass is for
This is a practice-level GBP pass for clinics with a real address patients can visit. It is not a multi-state telehealth playbook, use local SEO for multi-state telehealth for virtual footprints. It is not a ranking guarantee. The broader checklist lives on local SEO checklist for healthcare practices. Our services: SEO and SEO for healthcare practices.
Catalyze Care is a service-area business with no public street address. Never copy an agency’s NAP onto your listing. Use the practice’s own public name, suite, and phone.
Six steps to a citeable GBP
- Create or claim the profile for the staffed location. Google’s Help documents how to create a Business Profile and how representation guidelines apply. Claim only the location patients actually visit.
- Set category, services, and appointment URL. Primary category should match what patients actually ask for. Secondary categories are extras, not a keyword dump. Point the appointment URL at a page the practice owns.
- Match name, address, and phone. Suite numbers and tracking numbers are the usual mismatch. Pick one public phone and use it on the website, GBP, and major directories.
- Publish real hours and photos. Hours should match the door, including holiday exceptions. Photos should show the real clinic, parking, or waiting room, not stock-only imagery.
- Manage Q&A and reviews without PHI. Answer Q&A with facts (ages, payers, parking). Respond to reviews without naming a patient or a condition. Do not incentivize reviews in ways that violate Google’s policies.
- Measure what intake can confirm. Calls, direction requests, form submits, and booked appointments. Vanity impressions are not a booked visit.

One profile per staffed location
Google’s representation guidelines expect each location patients can visit to be represented accurately. A second office with its own suite and hours gets its own profile. A shared waiting room with two legal entities still needs an honest name and address, do not merge them into a keyword-stuffed title. Multi-location vs single-site detail: multi-location vs single-site healthcare SEO.
Service-area-only practices (no public visit address) follow a different GBP rule set. Do not hide an address that patients actually use, and do not publish an address no one staffs.

Reviews, PHI, and tracking
A review response that confirms a named patient’s visit or condition is a disclosure problem, not a “reputation tactic.” HHS OCR has published guidance on online tracking technologies used by covered entities; thank-you pages and review widgets should not leak identifiers plus health context into pixels or URL parameters. This is general education, not legal advice.

What schema should match
If the practice publishes MedicalOrganization or LocalBusiness markup, the visible name, address, and phone on the page must match the profile. Schema should repeat the same public address the practice already uses.

FAQ
Should each clinic location have its own Google Business Profile?
Yes, when the location is a real staffed place patients can visit. Google’s guidelines require an accurate representation of each location. Do not create a profile at an address where no one works. See multi-location vs single-site healthcare SEO.
What is Catalyze Care's SEO fee?
Published at $799 per month. Media and unrelated retainers are separate. No ranking guarantees.
What must match between GBP and the website?
Practice name, address including suite, phone, hours, and core services. Suite numbers and tracking numbers are common failure points.
Can reviews mention patient conditions?
The practice should not reveal PHI when responding. HHS OCR treats online tracking and disclosures that identify a patient plus care context as a HIPAA issue. This is general education, not legal advice.
